Leo A. Bonin
82, 117 Goodrich St., Athens, died Saturday August 7, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
He was born August 14, 1921 in Schnappsville, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Matysik) Bonin. On September 30, 1944 he married Agnes Lenard in Poniatowski. She survives.
Leo had been employed as a truck driver and factory worker then retired from Weathershield Windows.
Leo lived a long and joyful life. He treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. The smile, twinkle in his eye and gentle tease will be missed dearly. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens and a past member of the Athens Lions Club. Among his favorite things to do were, playing cards, watching baseball, fishing, hunting and spending time at his cabin.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes, six children, Leo (Linda) Bonin, Freeport, Ill., Jeanne Cengel, Connie Bonin, Calumet City, Ill., James (Joan) Bonin, Olympia, Wash., Gloria (Bill) Kiechle, Sparta, Tom (Linda) Bonin, Highland, Ind., 11 grandchildren, Leo, Melanie, Sarah, Julie, James, Jennifer, Bill, Renee, Becky, Jason, Peter, nine great grandchildren, his siblings, Sylvia Wadzinski, Marathon, Marcella Brosseau, Calumet City, Ill., twin brother, Leonard (Dorothy) Bonin, Calumet City, Ill., Eugene (Loretta) Bonin, Lansing, Ill., Phyllis (Shorty) Miller, Edgar, Betty Seubert, Marathon, Rita Bonin, Edgar, Joe Bonin, Schnappsville.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anne, Mayme and Delores Bonin, three brothers-in-law, Alexius Seubert, Clifford Brosseau, Walter Wadzinski and one sister-in-law, Irene Bonin.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Weds. August 11, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Poniatowski. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Weds. from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Athens funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anthony School.
