Leisla Margaret Surprise

Leisla Margaret Surprise, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at her home in Wausau. She was born May 10, 1940 in Clintonville, daughter to the late Walley and Myrtle Pingel. On June 22, 1957 she married John Davis Surprise. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2000. She is survived by her children, Dinah (Russell) Dean, Sandra (Patrick) Schmitt, Tina (Jason) Nigbor, John (Vickie) Surprise and Melissa Schaefer. Leisla was blessed with 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Laverne (Robert) Roth, Carolee Roth, Arlyn (Joyce) Pingel, Marlyn (Merry) Pingel and Walley (Debbie) Pingel. Besides her dear parents and loving husband, John, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Herbert Roth and Paul Herter. Leisla was a sweetheart that had a special place in the hearts of family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, growing gladiola's, decorating cakes, traveling and going to the casino. She always enjoyed those special visits with family and friends. Her words of encouragement were always treasured by those among her. The family is comforted to know that Leisla is now with her Lord and Savior. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2214 Highway 107, Marathon. Rev. Terry Reich will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
