Leah M. Knab
84, Athens, died Monday, January 15, 2007 unexpectedly at home.
She was born December 19, 1922 in Stetsonville, daughter of the late Edna Liberty. On December 19, 1941 she married Kasper W. Knab in Hamburg and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He survives.
Leah worked as a caregiver for nursing homes for many years and in her spare time she enjoyed spending time outdoors, reading and taking trips to the casino.
Survivors include her husband, Kasper W. Knab, Athens; children, Kasper A. (Becky) Knab, Athens, Michael F. (Patti) Knab, Merrill, Virginia "Ginny" (Bernie) Gauerke, Weston and Steven B. (Corinne) Knab, Manitowoc; two sisters, Ruth Leichtnam, Rothschild and Mildred Kruger, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two son-in-laws, Al Guden and Gary Fergot; brother-in-law, Chester (Ardell) Knab and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Janice R. Guden and Debra A. Fergot and two grandsons, Scott Knab and Keith Knab.
The memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed in Leah's name to the Public Library, Athens Branch or to a charity of your choice.
