Lawrence N. Wimmer, Marathon, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
Lawrence was born November 24, 1922, in Marathon, son of the late Henry and Amella (Wolfe) Wimmer. He married Eunice Imhoff on November 24, 1979 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
Lawrence was a former employee of Wausau Iron Works, White House Dairy and Menzer Lumber Company. He was proud to have been active in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and shooting pool. He also enjoyed coaching little league when he was younger.
Besides his wife, Eunice, Marathon, he is survived by five sisters; Antoinette Beranek, Mosinee, Agnes Towle, Fort Atkinson; Jenny Syring, Mosinee, Phyllis (Warren) Eschenbach, Wausau, Audrey Messenger, Arizona; three brothers, Henry "Hank" Wimmer, Illinois, Jerry (Nancy) Wimmer, Wausau, Wilfred "Bill" (Ann) Wimmer, Oregon; nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
