Lawrence J. Maier

Lawrence J. Maier 86, Wausau died Sunday, December 11, 2011 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Hospice House, Wausau. He was born July 31, 1925 in the town of Johnson, son of the late John and Minnie (Lehman) Maier. On October 29, 1955 he married June Korth in Wausau. She preceded him in death. From a young age Lawrence worked at many farms in the Athens area and later moved to Wausau and worked at the former Marathon Mill for over 20 years. He later went to work for the City of Wausau Public Works Dept retiring after 20 years of service. Lawrence enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Survivors include his children, Mary (Byron) Carter, Menominee Falls, John (Nancy) Maier, Wausau, Robert J. (Shanna) Maier, Clinton, Utah and Linda (Elmer) Krueger, Merrill, five grandchildren and five sisters, Delores, Shirley, Carol, Audrey and Jeanie. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Merlyn and two sisters, Marion and Dorothy. Private graveside services will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
