Lawrence Krejci, Sr

Lawrence H. Krejci Sr. 86, 501 Lincoln Avenue, Wausau, died Friday April 1, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born December 8, 1918 in Edgar, son of the late Joseph and Emma (Kohnhorst) Krejci. On September 7, 1940 he married Dorothy L. Goytowski of Elderon at the former St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death February 8, 2005. Lawrence had been a bartender at the Hotel Wausau from 1937 until 1947. From 1947 until 1961 he worked at the Domino Bar, Wausau, then, in 1964 he purchased and operated Larry's Bar on North Third Avenue until the time of his retirement in 1982. In 1979 the Krejci's purchased a summer home on Lake Nokomis, Tomahawk. Starting in 1985, they spent winters in Arizona until his beloved wife of 60 plus years became ill. They moved back to Wausau in 2002. During their retirement, they traveled and enjoyed six Carribean cruises as well as two trips to Germany and two trips to Hawaii. Survivors include two sons, John "Jack" and Lawrence Jr., both of Wausau, one granddaughter, Theresea (Rayon) Edwards, Wausau, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Leonard Krejci, Wausau, Harold Krejci, Arcadia, Florida, a sister, Geraldine (Alois) Zank, Schofield. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Eugene Piaszak, Eddie Slaminski and Steve Medvecz, all of Wausau, and a sister-in-law, Eileen Krejci, Wausau and many other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger in 2004, one brother, Frank Krejci and six sisters, Adeline Borski, Leona Piaszak, Adela Slaminski, Frieda LaFave, Violet Medvecz, Dolores Hanson and one sister-in-law, Rosemary Krejci. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday April 4, 2005 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home
