Lawrence J. Babl

Lawrence J. ('Mike') Babl, 91, Schofield, died peacefully, Saturday December 4, 2010, at home in the loving care of his wife and family. He was Born July 23, 1919 in Schofield, son of the late Joseph Sr. and Mathilda (Zinser) Babl. On October 19, 1940 he married the 'love of his life' Regina Delphine Dallman at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent with a 3 day celebration which followed at The Dallman Family Farm in the Town of Reid. She survives. He was raised on the 10-acre Babl Farm (now the site of Target in Schofield) where his parents raised strawberries and other things. As a very young boy he picked berries and carried water to the hired pickers, and continued picking berries of every kind through his 80's. Lawrence was truly a 'Man of Nature'. He always loved being in the outdoors and bringing back treasures for the family to enjoy whether fern, leaves, or bee-hives. He started to hunt at age 10 with his dad & brothers, and continued with his sons, son-in-laws, and grandsons, never missing a season for seven decades. He started kindergarden in the fall on 1924 and graduated from Schofield Grade School in the spring of 1933.
