LaVerna D. Brandt-Hintz, 84, Marathon, died Monday, August 26, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
LaVerna was born December 20, 1917 in the town of Berlin, daughter of the late Edwin and Emma (Gutknecht) Utech. She married Orville E. Brandt, December 20, 1939 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hamburg. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1976. She married Henry Hintz on June 6, 1979 in St. Luke Lutheran Church in Arizona. He preceded her in death April 4, 1998.
LaVerna worked for Weinbrenner Shoe Factory for 29 years until her retirement in June of 1978. She was a dedicated employee who traveled 32 miles round trip every day to help provide for her family. LaVerna was active in the Church Woman's Group and enjoyed cross-stitching. Above all she cherished her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzette (Donald) Oelke, Marathon, Joan (LeRoy) Scheiffer, Eau Claire; seven grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, Orville and Henry and her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Eldor Utech and two sisters, Delores Schlag and Sylvia Duwe.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2002 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. The Rev. Douglas Helling will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
