Laura E. Thornewell

Laura E. Thornewell, 90, Wausau, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born August 23, 1924 in Birnamwood, daughter of the late Ernest and Ella (Reiter) Prahl. On December 30, 1945 she married Joseph Thornewell in Birnamwood. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2011. Laura enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and baking, especially cookies. Her smile could light up a room and she had a heart of gold, always helping others. She loved her family, her Lord and her cat, Whiskers. Survivors include her sons, David (Ilene) Thornewell, McAllen, Tex., and Steven (Mary) Thornewell, Wausau; two granddaughters, Michelle Bloomfield and Patricia (Tim) Carlson; three great-grandchildren; many great great-grandchildren; one sister, Garnet (Herb) Jesse, Lake Tomahawk, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
