Laura Koepp 93, Wausau, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Our House Senior Living, Wausau. She was born May 21, 1915 in Poniatowski, daughter of the late George and Susan (Rauen) Reichl. On March 28, 1936 she married Clarence Koepp in Monches, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1992. Laura was a cook at the Knights Templar Club, Summit Lake from 1959 until her and her husband, Clarence, caretaker of the club retired in 1978. Among Laura's many interests she was a member of the American Legion Auxillary for 43 years, having joined at Marathon in Unit No. 469. Upon moving to Summit Lake she became a member at Unit No. 377 in Elcho where she was the veteran's affair and rehabilitation chairman for many years. Their group made quilts and plastic tray favors for the veterans in the various veterans homes in Wisconsin. She was also very active in the ladies Aid at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Elcho where she and many ladies did world relief quilts in her home. After moving to Wausau in June of 1996 she joined Trinity Lutheran Church. She also continued her work for the veterans and was awarded an American Legion Auxiliary Certificate of Participation and an Hour Bar for over 10, 000 hours. Survivors include her son, Daniel (Shirley) Reichl, Wausau; three daughters, Ruth (Don) Lyon, Weston, Gladys (Don) Beese, Wausau and Betty (Bill) Wentland, Hazelhurst; thirteen grandchildren, Steve Reichl, Scott Reichl, Stuart Reichl, Mark Reichl, Lance Lyon, Laurie Ellis, Linda Beck, Lou Ann Gille, Lisa Hoekstra, Rick Beese, Kathy Oliva, Wade Wentland and Lane Wentland; twenty-one great grandchildren, Jeremiah Reichl, Niki Miller, Gretchen Reichl, Morgan Reichl, Ross, Tyler, Aaron Lyon, Christopher and Ericka Ellis, Nathan and Nicholas Beck, Adam Krueger and Amanda Scholes, Jordan, Joshua and Jared Hoekstra, Kelley and Sarah Beese, Samantha and Paul Oliva and Josie Wentland three great great grandchildren; Ashley Miller, Lincoln and Samantha Reichl; one brother, Alvin (Betsy) Reichl, Wausau; three sisters, Annabelle Viergutz, Wausau, Genevieve Behrendt, Tucson, Ariz. and Sister Mary Thomas, Merrill; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Reichl, Wausau, and many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Reichl and three sisters, Regina Wozniak, Marion Fenhaus and Leona Sloan. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Burial will be in the Elcho Cemetery.
