L. Rosalind (Lynn) "Rosie" Foreen, 102, Wausau, died Sunday February 26, 2017 at Benedictine Living Community.
She was born July 13, 1914 in Merrill, daughter of the late Leo and Emma (Perske) Gensmann. She met her future husband, Hilding Foreen, when he arrived in Merrill from Chicago to work in the CCC Camps during the Depression. After their marriage, they traveled to different bases with the Army, where he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Signal Corps. This was a great time of adventure for them and their time in Florida is one of the special treasures she held dear to her heart.
After their return to Wausau, the Foreen's were the founders of WHVF Radio Station, the forerunner of WXCO. Wausau was truly home for her and she enjoyed the 70 plus years she spent in the community. Lynn loved her house at the end of Broadway overlooking Rib Mountain. She possessed a quick wit and endearing sense of humor along with a great love of animals, especially cats and dogs, and was known to rescue any feline friends in her neighborhood.
Survivors include three children, Richard (Carol) Foreen, Green Bay, Lynn (John) Sutherland, Wausau and Steve (Linda) Foreen, Northbrook, Illinois, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Private interment services will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Lynn's in-home caretakers as well as the nursing home staff for the compassionate care they extended to her.
