Kurt John Handrick Sr.
73, Marathon, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home.
He was born October 19, 1937 to the late John and Lillian (Kurtzweil) Handrick. Kurt attended St. Roberts School in Halder and Mosinee High School. On October 10, 1963 he married Anita Glas in Germany. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1996.
Kurt was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Edgar and the American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post No. 469, Marathon. He was also a member of the Edgar Steam and Tractor Club and Moose Lodge. Kurt served two tours in Germany in the United States Army. After he left the service, he was employed at Berg Co. in Edgar, self employed maintenance service and drove over the road semi until an accident ended his driving career. He enjoyed talking about the past and spending time with his grandkids, great grandkids and watching the world go by.
Survivors include his children, Kurt Jr (Joann) and their children Raymond (Kristie) and their children, Myles and Raylyn; Heather (Shawn) and her daughters Aubrey and Ava; Lily and Kurt III; Jon (Carrie) and their children, Elizabeth, Kyra and Emma; Constance (Larry) Stieber and their children, Kolina and Kord (Jaime) and future great grandson; Phillip and his children, Ryan and Desiree'; Clair (Kelly) and their children, Kristina, Anita, Chance and Dakota; Brenda (Larry) Wirkus and their children, Paige, Brianna, Morgan and Preston; Todd (Linda); Colleen Handrick and her children, Devan and Dana Gertschen; Troy and his children, Nick and Charlie and Kathy (Jason) Gerum and their children, Thomas and Michaela; grandson, Blake and his daughter, Jaelyn; siblings, Jason (Kathie) Handrick, Edgar, Ted (Ann) Handrick, Howard, Wisconsin, Jackie Engman, West Plains, Missouri; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Handrick, Marathon; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and Anita, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike, brother-in-law, Richard Engman and granddaughter, Adrian Handrick.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, town of Halder. Friends may call Monday from 4 - 8p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
