Kira Kaye Steger, 30, St. Paul, MN, formerly of Wausau, left this world and went to heaven before her time on February 21, 2013.
She was born November 19, 1982 in Des Plaines, IL, daughter of Marcie Steger of Weston and Jay Steger of Marshfield. Kira was a 2001 graduate of D.C. Everest High School in Weston.
Kira was employed at the Mall of America and worked for two stores there, Wet Seal and, most recently, Delia's. Her co-workers were not only great friends, but Kira considered them part of her family. Their favorite gathering place was Ruby Tuesdays. The Mall of America was like a home to her because she spent so much of her time there. Among her favorite pastimes, she loved walking her dog, Khayman, exercising daily, and was thinking of going back to college to be a teacher. She loved reading hardcover books and most recently enjoyed watching hockey. Kira was also an avid New York Yankees fan. She didn't mind all the grief she got for it either. Most of all, she loved being with her family and many close friends.
Surviving members include, her 'Baby' Khayman, a Lhasa Apso mix, her mother, Marcie Steger, Weston; her father, Jay Steger, Marshfield; five siblings, Keri Anne Steger, Austin Krejci, Felicia Krejci, all of Wausau, Jamison Steger and Jenna Steger, both of Marshfield; one niece, Falynn Bodenheimer; one nephew, Reid Bodenheimer; her maternal grandparents, Bud Kelch, Slidell, LA and Gail Wright, Pearl River, LA; her aunts and uncles, Kelle (Tom) Cline, Arlington, TX, Buddy (Kera) Kelch, Pearl River, LA, Jodie (Steve Banfield) Kelch, Fort Worth, TX, Tammy Guiton, Houston, TX, Danny Kelch Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, Michelle (James David) Achord, Hammond, LA, Jill Steger, Marshfield and Jodi (Mark) Beck, Marshfield, and many cousins and friends. Her friends that were considered more than family were Theresa Sylvester, Jazmine McLaughlin, Aba Boateng, Michelle Steckler and Tara Cash. Kira also was the Godmother of Christian Spratt.
Pura Vida is, and will always be, associated with Kira. In its essence, Pura Vida means that regardless of your current circumstance in life, life for someone else could always be less fortunate. So, you must consider that no matter how much or little you have, life is short, so keep on living. Kira lived by this saying.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Very Rev. Allan L. Slowiak will preside. Following the mass the burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau, WI. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
