Kevin J. Schmitt

Kevin J. "Hooper" Schmitt, 42, 1967 Thomas Road, Mosinee, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at his home. He was born September 18, 1961 in Wausau son of Gene Schmitt, Rib Mountain and Sandra (Kneiss) Schilling, Wausau. Kevin was a sporting goods salesman and Little League coach and manager who found great joy in teaching young kids to play ball. He played fast-pitch softball for Wausau area leagues and was a unique, free spirited individual affectionately known to friends as "Hooper". He attended most of the local high school sporting events and Woodchucks games. Most special to him was the time spent with his children, family and friends. Survivors include one son, Ryan Schmitt, Weston; two daughters, Reanna Schmitt and Olivia Schmitt, both of Kronenwetter; his mother, Sandra (Arthur) Schilling, Wausau; father, Gene (Linda) Schmitt, Rib Mountain; one brother Kirk (Gigi) Schmitt, Green Bay; his paternal grandmother, Frances Schmitt, Wausau; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Dr. Michael Meranda will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family directs memorials to The American Heart Association.
