Kenneth Warren Neelund

Kenneth Warren Neelund Age 70, 829 Winton St., Wausau, Born to Eternal Life on Monday, July 22, 2002. Ken was the son of the late Carl and Emma (Christensen) Neelund, born on May 20, 1932 in Superior. On August 27, 1955, he married Judith Niemi in Superior. She survives. The family opened the Neelund Hardware & Bottle Gas Company in Superior in 1956. The business was sold to Skelgas in the fall of 1965. Ken was transferred to Wausau as the Branch Manager of Wausau Skelgas. He was promoted to Area Manager in 1982, and served the State of Wisconsin and Northern Michigan. Ken is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. He co-chaired their property committee, and helped coordinate the volunteers for their recent building project. He missed being active with the church this past year, being with his many friends and taking care of church projects. Ken belonged to the F. & A.M., member of Itasca Lodge, Superior, and was a 32nd degree Consistory Mason, and member of Zor Shrine, Madison. He was Past Worthy Patron of the Marathon Chapter 123, O.E.S., Wausau. He was also active in many trade organizations during his working years, including The LP Gas Organization. Kenny loved golfing at Pine Valley in the Senior League and enjoyed being with his friends at the course. Among his favorite pastimes were having breakfasts at the Diner, and getting all the local news. Ken was a season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers and a huge fan of the green and gold. His Saturday's afternoons were spent watching Badger football. During the winter months, he was a mall walker Ken was a loving husband to Judy; loving father to Michael, Eden Prairie, Minn. and to Barbara and Jim Roberts, St. Cloud, Minn.; loving Papa to Dachsie pups: Lily and Sam, at home; loving brother to Donna (James) Langlois, Naples, FL; loving nephew to Harding and Helen Christensen, Superior and Esther Kates, Stamford, Conn. He will be sadly missed by many cousins, two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau, and again from 10:00 a.m. Saturday, until time of services at the church. There will be Masonic Memorial Service at the 6th St. funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau or the American Cancer Society for lung cancer research. Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take nothing that you have received ... but only what you have given; a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage.
