Kenneth W. Meyer

Kenneth W. Meyer 65, Wausau died Thursday April 15, 2010 at home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born September 13, 1944, in Stanley, son of the late Emil and Gertrude Alice (Biddle) Meyer. On January 2, 1971, he married Kathryn Boge in Madison. She survives. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Viet Nam War. Kenneth earned both a BBA and MS Degree from UW Whitewater and taught accounting for over 30 years at North Central Technical College, Wausau. Besides being an avid reader, Kenneth also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, taking walks and his beloved cat, Jasper. In retirement Ken and Kathy enjoyed the last seven years wintering in sunny Gulf Shores, Ala. where they met many new friends enjoying pool, euchre, beach fishing and shell collecting. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Meyer, Wausau, four children, Rev. Jeffrey (JoAnn) Meyer, Randolph, Jason (Tammy) Meyer, Weston, Jennifer Anne Meyer, Manitowoc, Julie (Scott Jr.) Tyrcha, Franklin, ten grandchildren, Jacob, Johnathan, Joseph, Jadyn, Jessica, Joshua, Jeremiah, Jordan, Zachery and Alissa, one brother, Larry (Betty) Meyer, Reedsburg. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday April 20, 2010 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Kenneth's family would like thank Dr. William Hocking, Dr. John Neal and Dr. Benjamin Lawler and staff of the Oncology Department of the Marshfield Clinic and Dr. Bart Isaacson at the Weston Center. Also, Dr. James Welsh and staff at UW Cancer Center Wisconsin Rapids for assisting Kenneth in his courageous five year battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma.
