Ken Zoromski

February 23, 1956 — August 27, 2016

Ken Zoromski, 60, Wausau, died Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following complications from heart-related issues. He was born February 23, 1956, in Neenah, son of Joe and Trixie (Kaminski) Zoromski. On May 3, 1980, he married Roxann Smedul in West Des Moines, Iowa. She survives. Ken graduated from St. Norbert College in DePere, where he played basketball while earning a business degree. Following graduation he began working, and was transferred to Des Moines, where he met the love of his life, Roxann. After marrying, he and Roxann changed direction on their life's path after he earned a teaching degree and taught mathematics for many years in Texas. While in Texas, their son Zach joined their life. For the past 24 years, Ken positively impacted thousands of students as a math teacher at Wausau East High School through his mentoring in classrooms, and during many extra-curricular activities directing the growth and attitudes of his students, as well as coaching his volleyball, basketball and tennis teams for over twenty years. He is renown as an exemplar that always gave his utmost for enriching the lives of his kids. When not in teacher-mode, Ken enjoyed having fun with family and friends while fishing, traveling, playing his new game: pickle-ball, sampling locally-brewed beverages and trying to beat the statistical odds while playing adult games of chance. Ken was fondly looking forward to having more time for his passions after retiring from 31 years as a teacher in 2016. In keeping with his giving nature, it's no surprise that Ken gave the gift of life through his organ and tissue donations. Survivors include his wife, Roxann, Wausau; and son, Zach, Wausau; his parents, Joe and Trixie Zoromski, Neenah; his siblings, Diane Rettler, DePere, Steve (Annette) Zoromski, Neenah, Don (Carrie) Zoromski, Greenville, Dean Zoromski, Kaukauna, a sister-in-law, Shelly (Jay) Lewis, Davidson, N.C., along with aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Anita and Ray Smedul.
