Kathryn M. O'Malley

Kathryn "Katie" M. O'Malley, 81, Schofield died Monday, March 18, 2013 at Kennedy Park Medical Center, Schofield. She was born September 7, 1931 in Wausau, daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Feist) Marcell. On October 9, 1954 she married Ken O'Malley at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He survives. Katie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Some of her favorite pastimes included gardening, quilting, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Leader. She also worked as a retail clerk at Pranges, Younkers and J.C. Penney in Madison, WI. Survivors include her husband, Ken O'Malley, Wausau, her children, Mary (Gordon) Ruplinger, Wausau, Daniel (Mary) O'Malley, Poynette, Peggy (David) Root, Bancroft, Colleen (Keith) Westphal, Appleton, John (Nelly) O'Malley, Wichita, Kansas and Michael (Christine) O'Malley, Waukesha, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters, Fanchon (Jim) Smith, West Bend and Mary (George) Guenther, Schofield as well as four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Katie was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers, Freddie, Kenneth, Robert, Billy, LaVerne, Harvey and Chuckie Marcell and one sister, Anna Mae Marcell. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon, Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Monsignor Joseph Diermeier will preside. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services, all at the church. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. William Nietert and all the caregivers that took care of Katie over her years at Kennedy Park.
