On Angels Wings
Kathleen Marie (Boehm) Martin
1953-2012
In the company of family and friends Kathleen (Kathy) died after a 5 A½ year courageous battle with breast cancer on Thursday July 19, 2012. She will be deeply missed.
Kathy was born April 18, 1953 to Mark P. and Joan Boehm. Her childhood was spent in the Mosinee/Halder area. In High School, the family moved to Wausau where Kathy graduated from Wausau West High School. After some business courses at NCTI (North Central Technical College) She started work in the office at Connor Forest Industries. A couple of years later Kathy moved on to Schuette Building Centers where she had a variety of office jobs. Then in 1985 Kathy began her new career change into the medical support field. She started as a credit representative with Wausau Medical center. Some years later, she moved on to the Physical Therapy Department as an aide. Her bright smile, perky attitude and caring spirit were appreciated by all. In 2005 Kathy had the opportunity to take a physical therapy aide position with DTC, at the new St. Clare's complex. Kathy spent many enjoyable years there with co-workers and continued to work until she could no longer tolerate the movement and work. For the last couple of years she has been what she called " A Retired Disability Chick". She remained active with family and friends doing what she could. It was only in the last couple of months that she slowed down.
In 1974 Kathy met her husband, David J. Martin, while they both worked for Schuette Building Centers. On August 28, 1976 Kathy & Dave were married at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. On October 23, 1985 Kathy gave birth to her son, Douglas John. Kathy raised Doug in a Christian home. In December 2006 Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer. By the grace of God we had her for another 5 A½ years. Always one never to complain, we can only be glad we knew that angel.
While in the hospital for the cancer surgery, Kathy received an angel teddy bear as part of their Christmas giving project. That angel bear sits in our bedroom. Dave also bought her an angel necklace which hardly ever comes off. So began Kathy's collection of Angels. Many have been added.
Kathy enjoyed life, she was a good mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Kathy's interests included reading, traveling through the US, board games, current and old time TV, good music, e-mail, and old time rock and roll, communications, stamping-up-card making, watching theater performances and attending high school football games either with, or to watch Doug. Kathy volunteered her help to Holy Name Summer Fun, Wausau West Drama and Athletics and Wausau Community Theater Projects. Kathy was always proud to watch Dave and Doug's staging projects for local theater groups.
Kathy will be missed.
Kathy is survived by David, husband of 36 years, Douglas J., her son. Her mother: Joan (Hornung) Boehm. Kathy has two brothers and two sisters: Glen (Kathy) Boehm, Mosinee Mark Jr., Wausau, Jean (Gregg) Laffin, Ioxinia, and Lois (Reg) Konkol, Hatley.
