Katherine J. Lawrence

Katherine J. Lawrence 82, Wausau died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born June 26, 1928 in the town of Stettin, daughter of the late William and Martha (Rathke) Borth. On May 3, 1947 she married Walter Lawrence in Wausau. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1988. For more than 40 years Katherine was a cook at the Wausau Labor Temple. As an avid outdoors woman she enjoyed hunting, camping and spending time up north at the cottage. But most of all she had a true passion for fishing, especially musky fishing. Katherine was a member of Bills Musky Club of Wausau and a proud member of Team Swanson. She will also be remembered for her love of rummage sales, being a proud grandmother, a member of the Mary Martha Guild and her ability of baking the best homemade candy around. Survivors include her children, Jerry (Jane) Lawrence, Marathon, Keith "Bud" (Gail) Lawrence, Wausau, Lyle (Sue) Lawrence, Marathon, Tammie (Gary) Renel, Merrill and Ann (Douglas) Smallish, West Concord, Minnesota, twelve grandchildren, Jody (Sheri) Lawrence, Jeremy (Michelle) Lawrence, Jenny (Jeremy Wegner) Lawrence, Rhonda and Amy Lawrence, Samantha (Timothy) Herrmann, Michael (Lori) Lawrence, Jeff (Jill) Lawrence, John (Julie) Lawrence, Kimberly (David Wedemayer Jr.) Moon, Jamie and Brad Smallish and fourteen great grandchildren. Katherine is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son Jon "Jay" Lawrence and her brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church, 3010 Eagle Avenue, Wausau. The Rev. Raymond Connor and The Rev. Thomas Hoelter will officiate. Burial will be in the Mosinee Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
