Katherine ''Katie'' Denk

Katherine "Katie" M. Denk, 92, formerly of Athens died Friday, September 27, 2002 at Washington Care Center, Washington, Iowa. Katie was born April 1, 1910 in Rozellville daughter of the late John and Anna (Brausch) Bangart. She married Frank J. Denk August 28, 1934 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Rozellville. He preceded her in death November 7, 1973. Katie was a homemaker. She also helped her husband Frank run the family business, "Athens Plumbing & Heating". Katie enjoyed crocheting, was an avid card player and she loved to spend time in her flower garden. She is survived by two sons, Bernard (Mary) Denk, Athens, Eugene (Katherine) Denk, Athens; one daughter, Marie (John) Seymour, Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Bangart, Milwaukee; seven sisters, Barbara Spindler, Rozellville, Helen Mader, Marshfield, Marie Kloos, Marshfield, Regina Seidel, Hewitt, Clara Lenhard, Athens, Christina Heier, Athens, Mary Ann Condon, Milwaukee. Besides her husband Frank and her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Seymour; four brothers, Andrew Bangart, Theodore Bangart, Anton Bangart, Edward Bangart. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, September 30, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call from 5-8p.m., Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Athens Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
