Karen D. Vlietstra

Karen Dawn Vlietstra, 75, of Ringle, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital in Weston, Wisconsin, surrounded by family. Karen was born the daughter of Elmer and Agnes (Ferries) Geurink of Ringle on July 12, 1939. Karen was united in marriage to Jack Vlietstra on May 20, 1961 at the Forestville Reformed Church, Ringle. They celebrated 53 years of loving marriage. Karen was a caring and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active member of New Hope Community Church where she enjoyed participating in various groups and committees. Karen spent many years as a volunteer and leader for the Badger 4-H Club while her children were young. She enjoyed travelling, and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Karen is survived by her husband, Jack of Ringle; children, Gary Vlietstra and Jeff Vlietstra both of Ringle, Paul (Michelle) Vlietstra of Frisco, Texas, Sally (Terry Vaughn) Vlietstra of Brownstown, Michigan; grandchildren, Ryan, Steve, Elissa, and Lily; brother Roger (Betty) Geurink of Weston; brothers-in-law Bob Vlietstra of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jim (Diann) Vlietstra of Birnamwood; sister-in-law Sharon (Bruce) Jensema of Marshfield, and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Clara Vlietstra. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at New Hope Community Church, E1045 S. County Rd. J, Wausau. Burial will be in Forestville Cemetery, town of Easton. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
