June King

June King, 67, 2401 Bloedel Ave., Schofield, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at her home. She was born June 18, 1937, daughter of the late Clarence and Theresa (Beck) Meverden. On April 12, 1958, June was united in marriage to Vilas King in Birnamwood. He survives. Among her many interests, June enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and making flannel baby blankets for family and friends. She also loved traveling up north to the family cabin at Pelican Lake and spending time with her family and grandchildren. June retired from Target in Schofield, following nine years of employment. She was a long time member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Surviviors include her husband, Vilas, Schofield; eight children, Valerie Schmelzer, Schofield, Nathan King, Schofield, Mark King, Wausau, Kevin King, Schofield, Jeffrey (JaMee) King, Boise, Idaho, Andrew King, Meridian, Idaho, Linda (Warren) Kahle, Woodbury, Minn., and Craig (Amy) King, Nampa, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Katie and Bill Schmelzer, Heather Equals, San Diego, Cal., Eric and Nick Kahle, and Dante'and Faith King; six brothers, Eugene, Raymond, Henry, John, Dennis and Tom; eight sisters, Irma Martin, Ruth Tafelski, Irene Ruenger, Dorothy Sekorski, Rose Radke, Carol Resch, Betty Meverden and Barbara Praslowicz; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Irving, William and Robert; and two sisters, Elnora and Mary. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2004 at St. Therese Catholic Church, , Rothschild. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Lance Armstrong Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice. June will be missed by her family, friends and all those she has lovingly cared for over the years.
