Joyce M. Bednarski

Joyce M. Bednarski, 84, Rothschild, died Wednesday January 29, 2014 at her home. She was born May 4, 1929, in Wausau, daughter of the late Alex and Esther (Kostka) Gorski. On November 26, 1953, she married Al Bednarski at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death August 23, 1988. Over the years, Joyce worked at Wausau Insurance, Marathon-Rothschild Credit Union and Weyerhaeuser Paper Company retiring in September 1994. Among her favorite things to do were playing cards, cooking and taking care of her yard, which she was meticulous about. Cheering on the Packers and Brewers was also very important to her. Joyce was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, their Funeral Committee, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, the VFW Auxiliary and Wausau Elk's Lodge No. 248. Survivors include daughters, Debra (Darrell) Kurth, Wausau and Julie (Gerard) Kurth, Mosinee, four grandchildren, Jennifer, Jesse, Derek and Tyler Kurth, one brother, James (Lois) Gorski, Tucson and a sister, Lorraine Frank, Wausau. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joshua & Andrew, a sister, Doris Doran and a brother, Robert Gorski. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday February 1, 2014 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Very Rev. Allan L. Slowiak will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
