Joy Kachel

Joy Kachel, 70, Wausau, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Hospice House surrounded by her family. She was born June 27, 1944 in England, daughter of the late James and Elsie (Finley) Meek. On September 3, 1966 she married Peter Kachel in Milwaukee. He survives. Joy worked as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, Merrill for many years. Survivors include her husband, Peter, Wausau; children, James (Loralei) Kachel, Weston and Melissa Butters, Plymouth; grandchildren, Jordyn, Zakary and Taylor Kachel, Moriah, Ashley and Shayla Butters; mother-in-law, Marjorie Kachel, Rhinelander; sister-in-law, Kristine (Jerry) Meisbauer, Sun Prairie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital Cardio Unit and Palliative Care as well as Hospice House for their compassionate care to Joy during her time there.
