Joseph J. Zemski
80, Marathon, passed away Saturday February 4, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. With his children at his side, he joined our heavenly Father.
He was born July 5, 1925 in the town of Marathon, son of the late Steve and Balbina (Wielock) Zemski. On June 19, 1951, he married Lou Ann Wadzinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. She survives. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army.
Joseph worked as a farmer and carpenter, with a passion for hunting, fishing and inventing. He loved being with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Ann Zemski, six children, Karen (Joel) Levandoski; Barbara (Charles) Theis; Gary (Janet Sonnentag) Zemski; Renee' (Jay McMillin) Zemski; Lori (Leon) Wilkosz; Lee (Ann Menzner) Zemski, ten grandchildren, Justin & Lauren Levandosk; Rebecca & Sara Theis; Matthew & Joseph Zemski; Mikayla McMillin; Alexandra & Melissa Wilkosz and Gunnar Zemski, two sisters, Marie (Charles) Mullins and Anna Dahlke.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday February 8, 2006 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Marathon funeral home.
