Joseph G. Salber
72, 4142 Marathon Rd., Marathon, died Monday October 27, 2003 at his home, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born September 4, 1931 in Raeville, Nebraska, son of the late George and Anna (Schmidt) Salber.
Prior to retirement, the Salber's were dairy farmers in the town of Marathon.
Joseph was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Salber, Marathon, ten children, Richard (Therese) Salber, Kevin (Carol) Salber, Gary (Tammy) Salber, David (Debbie) Salber, all of Marathon, Randy (Mary Jane) Salber, NC, Lori (Kevin) Kazmierczak, Thomas (Cathy) Salber, all of Mosinee, Linda Salber, Mary Mack and Mark (Karry) Salber, all of Wausau, 29 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday November 1, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Burial will be in the parish cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the Marathon American Legion. Visitation will be Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 8 p.m. Friday at the Marathon funeral home.
Pallbearers for the service will be grandsons.
