Joseph Mijal

November 16, 1923 — February 13, 2003

Joseph Mijal 79, Wausau, died Thursday February 13, 2003 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born November 16, 1923 in Ringle, son of the late Walter and Julia (Maziar) Mijal. On September 10, 1949 he married RoseAnn Falkowski at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. She survives. Joe had been employed at Marathon Electric for 38 years prior to his retirement. Joseph was a loving husband, father and a very proud grandfather. He enjoyed fishing on Rolling Stone Lake, hunting with his children, working in his garden, playing his button accordion and telling the same long jokes to anyone who would listen. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. As a member of the US Army, Joe served in Korea and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. Survivors include his wife, RoseAnn Mijal, Wausau, his children, Jerry (Sherry) Mijal, Denny (Sue) Mijal and Scott (Dawn) Mijal, all of Wausau and JoAnn (Kim) Mijal-White, Madison, grandchildren, Tammy & Josh Mijal, Doug (Cinda) Mijal, Dan (fiance, Becky) Mijal, David Mijal and Paul & Amber Mijal; brothers and sisters, Eleanor Groshek, Shawano, Stan (Lil) Mijal, Stevens Point, Jean Pierzchalski, Birnamwood, Tony Mijal, Green Bay, Lucy (Joe) Muzynoski, Wausau, Florence (Jerry) Ziegel, Wausau, Ann Strehlow, Wausau. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Marion 'Mickie' Mijal, Edward Mijal and John Mijal and one sister, Helen Sondelski. The memorial mass will be celebrated 6:00 p.m. Monday February 17, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in St. Florian Cemetery, Hatley. Friends may call on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. A special thanks to the Mount View staff who showed Joe unconditional love, and gave him exceptional care through the best and worst times. 'Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother....gone from this earth but never from our hearts.
