Joseph "Joe" Krautkramer 81, 2061 County Road NN, Marathon died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born August 10, 1926 in Marathon, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Gassner) Krautkramer. On September 6, 1954 he married Sylvia Wieloch at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. She survives. After marriage, Joe had been employed as a welder in Milwaukee. Joe and Sylvia then operated a dairy and a ginseng farm in the Marathon area for many years until their retirement. He enjoyed repairing old machinery and reminiscing about the good old days when it was used. Among his favorite things to do were, playing cards, fishing and hunting. Family activities were always a high priority for Joe and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Krautkramer, Marathon, his children, Jeanne Grzesiak, Marathon, Carol (Kevin) Salber, Marathon, Dan (Mary Lou) Krautkramer, Marathon, Dorrie (Elton) Martyn, Marathon, Shirley (Ron) Huebsch, Wausau and Steve (Becky) Krautkramer, Marathon, 15 grandchildren, Ryan and Taylor Grzesiak, Ben (Steffanie) Salber, Angie (Randy) Young, Dusty and Tyler Salber, Megan, Mandy, Rusty and Jimmy Krautkramer, Kelly, Sammy and Joey Huebsch and Kenzie and Hunter Krautkramer and one great granddaughter, Bridget Salber. Joe is expecting two more great grandchildren later this year. He is further survived by his siblings, Marie Gau and Ceil (Emil) Zins, both of Wausau and Irene Cihlar and Lyle (Vernie) Krautkramer, Marathon along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mitch Grzesiak, his siblings, Dolores Rader, Florence Witberler, Alois, Carl and LeRoy Krautkramer. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier and The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. all at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home Marathon.
