Joseph Peter Figlmiller

Joseph Peter Figlmiller, age 75, Wausau, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2015. He was born December 22, 1939 in Eau Claire, Wis., son of the late Victor and Marcella Figlmiller. On August 26, 1961, he married Marilyn (Hake) Figlmiller. Joe was an instructor of Architectural/Residential Design at NTC for 30 years. He was Teacher of the Year in 1999. Joe also had an architectural business and designed many homes and commercial buildings in the Wausau Area. His love for his family was foremost in his life, followed by the pride he took in the success of his students and the satisfaction of his clients. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, sons, Daniel (Nancy) Wausau; Mark (Laurie) and children Cami and Kyle, Appleton; Jeffrey (Joan) and children Ellie, Sam and Kate, Cottage Grove, Minn.; and daughter, Amy (Derek) Pletch and children Oliver and Julia, St. Paul, Minn.; sister-in-law Jan Figlmiller, Eau Claire; and brother-in-law and wife Gene and Dorothy Hake, Brownsville, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Victor, Thomas, Richard and twin brother John. For 14 years he fought the good fight against Alzheimer's and now he can leave that foe behind as he moves on to New Life. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Monday, March 30, 2015 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Alan Burkhardt will preside. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. A special thanks to all of the caregivers at Gardenside Mount View Care Center, especially Coralie who cared for him like family. Joe will be remembered for his love for his family, his light hearted sense of humor, and generous acceptance and caring for everyone he met.
