Jonathan Paulson

Jonathan Scott Paulson, 38, of Bozeman, MT, formerly of Norrie, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 9, 2023 after an intense battle with brain cancer. Jon was loyal, dependable, thoughtful, and always early to anywhere he planned to be.

Jon was born in Wausau, WI on February 19, 1985 to Scott and Bonita (Brzezinski) Paulson, Norrie. Jonathan graduated from Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School in 2003, before going on to Northcentral Technical College in Wausau. He graduated from NTC as a paramedic in 2005. While attending NTC he served on the Hatley Fire Department as an EMT. Jon was a paramedic at Beacon Ambulance Service in Hurley, WI, from 2006 until 2008. In March 2008, Jon moved to Ashland WI and worked as a fireman/paramedic until July 2013. While in Ashland, Jonathan made numerous trips west to Cooke City, Montana to snowmobile in the mountains. Jon also greatly enjoyed fishing on many lakes in WI and Montana.

In July 2013 Jon made the move out to Bozeman, MT and joined the Bozeman Fire Department as a Fireman/paramedic. He found his calling helping others despite his own health struggles.

Jonathan married Kristy McClenahan in Bozeman, MT. She survives. He was the proud Dad to Leora born July 14, 2020. He greatly enjoyed all of the time he was able to spend raising her.

Jon will be dearly missed by his wife, Kristy; daughter, Leora; parents, Scott and Bonita Paulson; his sister, Melissa (Neal) DuBois and brother-in-law, Billy (Courtney) McClenahan. He is further survived by his nieces and nephew, Kinsley and Patrick DuBois; Danielle, Evelyn, Vera, and Svea Rosengren and Chambers McClenahan. Nothing brought him more joy than thinking of the perfect gift for them on a birthday or holiday. He is further survived by his mother-in-law Luann (Dan) Rosengren and Jon created a special bond with Kristy’s cousin, Timothy Sanderson. Their special bond was their immense love of fishing. He is also survived my many more cousins, aunts and uncles, close friends, and a whole community of firemen and women.

Jon is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Phyllis (Mitchell) Paulson and Wallace and Esther (Ostrowski) Brzezinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. The Rev. Greg Bohren will preside. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services, all at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Town of Norrie.
