John H. “Sport” Dittbrender, 84, Ringle, died Monday, March 24, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born November 27, 1940, in Ringle, son of the late John and Marion (Prahl) Dittbrender.
Sport worked in road construction and retired from James Cape Construction. He often did concrete work on the side for family and friends. He enjoyed being out in the woods on his land, making wood and in his younger years, hunting. Sport raced snowmobiles for many years and won numerous championship snowmobile racing trophies. When he could no longer race he still enjoyed watching others and NASCAR. Sport was never short on words, loved to talk and tell stories. He especially enjoyed the time he spent talking and visiting with the nieces and nephews closest to him.
Survivors include his siblings, Janet Falkowski, Raymond “Petie” (Mildred) Dittbrender, Ted Dittbrender, Linda (Randy) Ostrowski and June Dittbrender; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roger and Gary Dittbrender.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, town of Easton. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
