John J. Wiesneski Jr., 69, 1740 Cherry St., Wausau, died Sunday April 14, 2002, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
He was born September 6, 1932 in Wausau son of the late John and Delpha (Saeger) Wiesneski . On June 28, 1958 he married Darlene Hess at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. She survives.
For the past 39 years, John had been employed with the Marathon County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. Hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening were among his favorite pastimes, however, being an active and loving grampa was his favorite enjoyment.
John was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau. For many years, he was also a member of the Rib Mountain Bowmans Club.
Survivors besides his wife, Darlene include six children, Debra (Kim) Woller, Wausau, Tina (Alan Draeger) Wiesneski, Rib Falls, Scott (Megan) Wiesneski, Portland, Oregon, Randy (Cyndi) Wiesneski, Greenville, Glen (Rita) Wiesneski, Wauwautosa, Jennifer Wieneski, Wausau, seven grandchildren, Ashley & Nicholas Hohensee, Shane & Whitney Woller, Autumn Wiesneski, Reed Wiesneski, Kayla Wiesneski, two sisters, Betty Flaig, Rudolph and Lois (Al) Glosch, Milwaukee, two brothers, James (Janice) Wiesneski, Conover, David (Rose) Wiesneski, Wisconsin Rapids.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Krueger.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday April 16, 2002 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers for the service will be John Suminski, Richard Zietlow, Gary Spatz, Dan Hrobsky, Howie Iwen and Arnie Bauman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
