John A. Solimene

John A. Solimene John A. Solimene, 51, Mosinee, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at his home. He was born Aug. 31, 1955, in San Bernardino, Calif., son of the late Victor and Mardel (Diea) Solimene. John was very active in the community doing volunteer work, performing reenactments of World War II events and being a musician in local bands. Being very interested in World War II, he also collected memorabilia and put together models. During his childhood he was fortunate to live in England for two years, meet relatives in Naples, and travel to several countries including Rome, France, Scotland, Ireland, Italy and Spain. As a young man he was an avid surfer spending every morning before school on the waves in Santa Monica. John loved life. He was happy just being able to wake up each morning. He had a passion for being outdoors and spending quality time with family and friends. John enjoyed throwing the ball with his son, working in the backyard, cooking, riding his motorcycle, military reenacting and helping people when they needed it. He was a simple man. Just watching the sun come up and go down left him content. John, more than anything, valued his health and more than enjoyed lifting weights and swimming at the YMCA. He surrounded himself with good, positive people and was always ready and willing to help anyone. He fought a long tough battle with his diabetes and heart condition. He may have lost the battle, but he fought hard and never gave up hope. Survivors include his children, Carissa Solimene and Luke Jahnke, both of Wausau, Taylor Duranceau, Mosinee, and Josh Duranceau, Prescott; girlfriend, Brenda Kleinschmidt, Mosinee; and a sister, Karen (John) Waymire, Calif. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. today, June 2, 2007, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. The Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of services today at the Sixth Street funeral home.
