John H. Sahr

John H. Sahr, 89, Wausau, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born September 14, 1925 in Tomahawk, son of the late Mathias and Clara (Klapperich) Sahr. On June 15, 1946, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Madden at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives. John worked for James River Corp. for 38 years until his retirement. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, cutting wood and working outside. Survivors include, his wife of 69 years Elizabeth "Betty" Sahr, Wausau; four children, John Sahr Jr., Wausau, Dale (Cindy) Sahr, Geneseo, Ill.; Judy (Michael) Pingel, Wausau and Jean Sahr, Wausau; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Juedes, Rothschild; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Sister Matthea Sahr, Katherine Jax, Albert Sahr, Tina Richards, Leona Springer and Leon Sahr; and one daughter-in-law, Karen Sahr. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
