John J. Reed 84, Edgar died Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at the House of the Dove, Marshfield. He was born October 20, 1917, Lemont, Illinois, son of the late John and Rosa Lawrence. On May 30, 1941, he married Til C. Wirkus at St. Angela in Chicago. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2002. John worked many years for Argonne National Lab in Lomont, Illinois as an Electro Mechanical Engineer working in Research and Development. He was a member of the Kinghts of Columbus #1599 in Lamont, Illinois. John and his wife, Til, lived many years in Illinois until they retired to the Edgar area in 1977. John was very musical, playing many instruments, he enjoyed visiting with people and helping them. He was known as 'a Jack of all trades. Survivors include one sister, Rita Donnelly, Sun City, Arizona and many sisters-in-laws, many brothers-in-laws; nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2002 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John School, Edgar. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is in charge of arrangements.
