John A. Proft

John A. Proft 83, Colby, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Colonial Center, Colby. He was born June 20, 1926 in the town of Johnson, son of the late William and Mary (Mauritz) Proft. John served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a farmer. Survivors include his three sisters, Katherine Sauter, Salinas, Calif., Celia Madson, Coloma and Isabelle Jacobi, Abbotsford; and many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers, William, Harry, Frank, Herman, Joe and Frederick and three sisters, Theresa, Millie and Marie. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
