John Edward Nolan Jr

John E. "Jack" Nolan Jr. 79, Wausau, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at North Central Health Care, Wausau. He was born October 8, 1927 in Portage County, son of the late John E. and Agnes (Kruzicki) Nolan Sr. On September 19, 1953 he married Donna Elchlepp at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stevens Point. She survives. John was honorably discharged after serving his country in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. Working as an accountant for James River Corporation, formerly known as American Can and Marathon Corporation he retired in 1989 after 37 years. Some of his hobbies included fishing, gardening, camping and traveling the United States. He was a member of the American Legion Berens Scribner Post No. 6 in Stevens Point for 62 years. Survivors include his wife Donna, Wausau; children, John (Judy) Nolan and their son David Nolan, all of Urbandale, Iowa., Mark (Lynn) Nolan and their daughter, Miranda Nolan, all of Wausau and Mary Pegnalitti and her children, Yolanda Pegnalitti and John Pegnalitti, all of Ventura, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Theresa Nolan Annette Nolan both of Stevens Point; many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Donald Nolan; son-in-law, Joseph Anthony and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Irene Elchlepp. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery, Stevens Point where full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 6. Friends may call Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to all the staff at North Central Health Care for the wonderful care and compassion shown to John.
