John P. Lewandowski, 86, Wausau died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at his home.
He was born March 23, 1917 in Wausau, son of the late Peter and Victoria (Piaszak) Lewandowski. On July 6, 1945 he married Jo Ann Trzebitoski at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
John worked 47 years for 3M Corporation, was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, enjoyed fishing and being a football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Lewandowski, Wausau; two sons, Kenneth (Karen) Lewandowski, Wausau, Gary Lewandowski, Superior; two grandchildren, Renee' and Shelley Lewandowski; and a sister-in-law Aldine Lewandowski, Wausau. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Alex, Frank, Paul, Stanley, Tony; and one sister, Mary.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2003 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Frederick Njoroge Kairu will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau where full military honors will be conducted by the VFW Burns Post No. 388. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family directs memorials to the American Heart Association.
