John W. Krueger

John "Jack" W. Krueger 76, Athens, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Medford. He was born June 7, 1929 in Wausau, son of the late George and Emma (Bahr) Krueger. On June 12, 1948, he married Dorothy Mae Scheffler in Athens. She survives. Jack and Dorothy farmed in Athens for 25 years. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he drove truck, worked for Bozon Construction, Marshfield and did carpenter work with Athens Builders. Jack was the town of Bern Clerk and Town Chairman for 36 years, and was on the Athens Area Fire Commission Board for 27 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Among his many interests, he enjoyed bowling, dancing, hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at their cottage in Lake Esadore. Survivors include, his wife, Dorothy, Athens; four children, Karen (Neil) Bergmann, Athens, Douglas (Jean) Krueger, Athens, Timothy Krueger, Baldwin, Wis. and Kurt (JoAnn) Krueger, River Falls; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Keith) Weiler, Tanya (Chad) Ellenbecker, Tasha (Aaron) Stencil, Travis Bergmann, Justin Krueger and Crystal Krueger, all of Athens; four great grandchildren, Colten, Kiera, Chase and Celina; and one brother, George (Shirley) Krueger, Minneapolis, Minn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold; one infant daughter; and one infant brother. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Lutheran Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at the church in Athens. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Krueger family for a memorial fund to be established at a later date.
