John P. Jansky

John P. Jansky, 75, of Mosinee, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on June, 27, 2008. He was born on January 23, 1933 in Manitowoc, WI to John and Anna (Stransky) Jansky. John was married to Joanne Kaupie on June 11, 1955 in Racine, WI. Joanne preceded him in death on October 2, 2001. He was married to Mary Ellen Day on December 20, 2003 at Saint Matthew's Parish in Wausau, WI. John was a Lieutenant in the Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was very proud of being part of the 1951-1952 Marquette University basketball team which won the National Catholic Invitational and was the first post-season tournament championship for Marquette. John worked for over twenty years at Globe Union in Milwaukee, WI, which later became Johnson Controls. In later years, John served as the Executive Director for the U.S. Tennis Association - Midwest Section. He loved tennis and had a life-long goal of "growing the game." John was passionate about home improvement, particularly gardening and landscaping and spent countless hours perfecting any project he began. John was a true and loyal friend, always finding ways to lift others up. He was known as an encourager and always helped others to realize their potential. He was a blessing to all who knew him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. John is survived by his wife Mary Ellen and several children: daughters Roberta Jansky and Elizabeth Klug; sons John Jansky, Jr. and Joseph Jansky; Tyler Rollins and Whitney LaPointe; and several grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his mother and father as well as a brother, Pete Jansky. The memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Wausau.
