John J. Fluger

John "Jack" Fluger 85 years, 2420 Alpine Road, Marathon, joined his Savior on Friday, December 19, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born February 15, 1918 in Morton Grove, Illinois, son of the late John A. and Alma (Koller) Fluger. On April 20, 1942 John married Bernice Boesche in Lawton, Oklahoma. She survives. John and Bernice moved to Marathon in 1965 and started dairy farming. John enjoyed many things in life but special to him was gardening, square dancing and playing cards. Most of all John enjoyed the company of his family and friends and was also proud to be a Marathon Farmer. John served his country in World War II from 1941 to 1945 earning a Silver Star in the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors besides his wife Bernice, Marathon include five daughters, Peggy (Bruce) Mueller, Billings, Montana, Donna Johannes, Billings, Montana, Sally (Timothy) Westfall, Edgar, Janell Ludkey, Marathon, Coreen (Russell) Schumacher, Marathon, three sons, John Fluger, Skamokawa, Washington, Paul (Becky) Fluger, Cortland, New York, Marvin (Sharon) Fluger, Puyallup, Washington, 25 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, five sisters, Dee Edwards, Chicago, Bernice Thiener, Genoa, Ill, Fran Wille, Des Plaines, Ill, Jenny Koehn, Crystal Lake, Ill, Joan McAffee, Elkhorn, four brothers, Jim (Bernice) Fluger, Oxford, Arkansas, Chester (Betty) Fluger, Richland Center, Richard (Rita) Fluger and Robert (Bev) Fluger, McHenry, Ill. Besides his parents John was preceded in death by one sister Eleanor Moehling. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Marathon. Rev. Jon Hadler will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Jack's name.
