John A. Cline, Sr., 80, 1201 Plumer Street, Wausau, died Monday, June 23, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born July 21, 1922 in Perry, Iowa son of the late Bert and Katherine (Garvey) Cline. On May 11, 1946 John married Naomi Hakemeier in St. Louis, Missouri. She survives.
John was a roundhouse foreman for Milwaukee Road. He was a member of the Civil War Round Table, Wausau Writers Club, Eland Historical Society, Forest History Association along with many other interests. Sundays were usually reserved for watching NASCAR races.
John was a World War II veteran serving with the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific.
Survivors besides his wife Naomi, include his children John Cline Jr., Wausau, Susan (Al Meyer) Bandock, Wausau, Gerald (RoJeana) Cline, Wausau, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Rauch, Colorado Springs, Colo and Ruth Altig, Perry, Iowa.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Jim and one sister Katherine.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 27, 2003 at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Steve Gross will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
