John William Bandock, 77, of Wausau, WI, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. Born on April 12, 1948, John was a lifelong resident of Wausau and a proud graduate of Wausau High School.
A devoted husband, father, and brother, John is survived by his beloved wife, Norma; his daughters, Diane Husom (Joshua) and Rachel (Adam Dunn); and his brother Bill. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Ruth (née Supple), as well as his brothers Robert and James.
John honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned two Purple Hearts for his bravery and sacrifice. His Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service exemplified his courage and dedication to others.
John was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Wausau. A passionate Green Bay Packers fan through thick and thin, John also enjoyed walking and bicycling throughout Wausau. His humor, kindness, generosity, and loving nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on April 18, 2026 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 N. Sixth Street, Wausau. Visitation will be on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Special Olympics Wisconsin in John's memory.
John’s legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
