John S. Arlen

John S. Arlen 89, R5849 N. Shady Lane, Ringle, died Tuesday July 8, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born April 24, 1914 in Chicago, Ill., son of the late John and Barbara (Jomont) Arlen. On June 26, 1937 he married Dorothy Burns at the former St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives. For 35 years, John had been employed at Marathon Battery and later did carpenter work. He was a Jack-of-all-trades and was master of many. He enjoyed going up north to his cabins in Vilas County and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, snowmobiling and riding his four-wheeler. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, his children, Joyce (Richard) Worgull, Weston, Robert (Gail) Arlen, Wausau, Gerald (Kay) Arlen, Winchester, Bonnie (Dennis) Sattler, Wausau, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Walter Akavickas, Schofield, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday July 11, 2003 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Joseph Rafacz will officiate. Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home.
