His service in the Korean War included that of air traffic control operator at Iwakuni, Japan. After service he became a member of the American Legion, Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau. On October 19, 1957, he married Karen Westphal in Wausau. She survives. Following marriage, he was involved in various sales positions and retired in 1997 from Imperial Inc. of Green Bay. Through the years, Jack enjoyed several sports, among them, golf, softball, pot belly basketball and bowling--having once bowled the perfect game. Survivors include his wife, Karen Almlie, Weston, and his four daughters and three grandchildren, of whom he was very proud, Lisa (Sean) O'Rourke, Madison; Mary (Jeff Sedivy) Almlie, Naperville, Ill., and their son, Jackson; Ellen (Dan) Hartwig, Wausau, and their children, Elizabeth and Daniel; Patti Almlie, Madison, Brothers-in-law, Vern (Marlys) Westphal, Arizona; Robert (Suzanne) Metz, Hazelhurst; Dennis (Betty) Metz, Plover, Sisters-in-law, Kathy (Gary) Bielen, Wausau; Char (Wayne) Carr, Wausau, and many nieces and nephews.
