Joe R. Eis, 79, Wausau, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born March 10, 1933 in Manhattan, Kansas, son of the late Paul and Hazel (Chilson) Eis. On June 7, 1963 he married Ann Warnick in Wausau. She survives. Joe served his country in both the United States Army and Navy. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local No. 383 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, canning and tending to his garden. Joe also enjoyed doing repair work and could fix just about anything. Joe was a caring, loving, husband, father and friend who will be sadly missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Ann Eis; sons, Jimmy John and Joe Ray; daughters, Melissa West and Linda; granddaughter, Samantha; sisters, Sharlene and Pauline. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the funeral home. The celebration of Joe's life will continue after the services at the Glass Hat, 1203 Third Street, Wausau. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Joe's family. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus and also to Comfort Care and Hospice Services for their compassionate care given to Joe.
