Jody A. Soper

February 21, 1962 — August 10, 2025

Jody Ann Soper (Bowman), 63, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away on August 10, 2025 surrounded by love.

Born on February 21, 1962, in Portland, Oregon, to Joan and John Bowman, Jody grew up in Northern California and carried a bold, loving spirit wherever life took her. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend.

Jody is survived by her daughter Jaime “Kiah” Sanborn and husband Alex Sanborn, her son Zachary Soper, and her beloved granddaughter, Alita. She is also remembered with love by her sister Linn Hall and husband Charlie Dehnel, sister Lisa Baker and husband Grier Baker, and brother Gary Bowman and wife Amy Bowman, as well as her stepmother, Ginger Bowman, and many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Her chosen family included her best friend, Carol Christ, with whom she shared decades of memories, travels, and unconditional love. Jody is preceded in death by her mother Joan Bowman and father John Bowman.

As a young adult, Jody was a gifted athlete—playing basketball, volleyball, and running track. She was the coach’s favorite, known for her fierce spirit and signature #24 jersey—a number her granddaughter will proudly wear in her first year of competitive soccer.

While raising her children in Eau Claire, WI, Jody earned her degree from the University of Wisconsin–Stout. She went on to become a respected Quality Assurance Director, known for her sharp mind, dedication, and high standards.

Jody found joy in renovating homes and tackling creative projects—but nothing brought her more happiness than sharing those passions with her granddaughter. From “Chef Jody & Chef Alita” camp to painting birdhouses and teaching her how to use tools, she delighted in crafting endless adventures and memories together.

Though the last few years brought their share of challenges, Jody embraced every opportunity to create meaningful moments with those she loved—like a cross-country road trip with her sister Linn, watching the eclipse with her dear friend Montoya, and perfect evenings spent visiting and grilling out with her sister Lisa.

In her final days, friends and family sent videos filled with love, memories, and gratitude. A common thread emerged: Jody lifted everyone around her. She made her friends feel seen, valued, and reminded them that they deserved the world.

A private memorial service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monk Botanical Gardens in Wausau, WI. Gifts made in her name will contribute to a fund for a memorial bench celebrating her life.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported Jody during her journey—especially her friends and caregivers, including the teams at Aspirus Cancer Center and Hospice House. Above all, her sister Linn Hall was Jody’s closest companion and fiercest advocate—her daily support, unwavering presence, and deep love carried Jody and her family through the most difficult moments. The family is also deeply grateful to her dear friend Martha Flanders—a true force who kept Jody moving, laughing, and finding light even in the hardest times. Her steady presence, especially during treatments, meant the world to Jody.

Great memories. Great friends. Great laughs. Always.
