Joann Ruth Atkinson

JoAnn Ruth Atkinson, 67, Mosinee, formerly of Weston, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at her home, under the care of her family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born January 1, 1951 in Fort Atkinson, Wis., daughter of the late Gilbert Scholl and Arlene (Wealti) Scholl. On April 4, 1970, she married John Paul Atkinson. They ran off to Crown Point, Indiana, where they eloped above the Clausen's Hobby Shop. JoAnn was a loving person, always tending to others needs. She was an excellent baker and her grandchildren brought her endless joy in life. The BEST wife, mother, sister, grandma and friend a person could ever wish to have in their lives. Survivors include her husband, John Mosinee; three children, Ricky (Mary Zebik) Atkinson, Merrill, Amy (Gus Griego) Atkinson, Rib Mountain and Peter Atkinson, Wausau; two grandchildren, Marissa and Austin Atkinson, both of Mosinee; one brother, Gary (Vicki) Hoffmaster, Indiana; one sister, Ginger (Dan) Gehri, Michigan; her dear friend, Brenda Boerst, Schofield; and many special nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Rhonda and David. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from Noon until time of services at the funeral home. Private burial will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
