Joan M. Williams
81, Wausau, died Friday June 12, 2009 at Marywood Convalesent Center, Wausau.
She was born May 7, 1928 in Antigo, daughter of the late George and Bertha (Stockheimer) Wittman. On September 21, 1950, she married Karl V. Williams in Wausau. He survives.
Joan was a legal secretary working for Richard Tinkham and many other law firms in Wausau and LaCrosse as well as for the Staff Judge Advocate at Fort Bliss, Texas.
Living on farms in her early childhood, Joan had a love of nature, with flowers, plants and birds holding her special interest. She was a lifelong member of the Wausau Bird Club.
Survivors include her husband, Karl V. Williams, Wausau, a son, Kurt A. (Carolyn) Williams, Madison, a daughter, Susan M.(Shadler) Schlicht, Stevens Point, three grandchildren, Keon A. Williams, Dana E. Williams and Sabrina Joan Schlicht.
Besides her parents, Joan was preceded in death by a sister, Lois A. Wittman.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 16, 2009 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
